Some biochemical characteristics of needles in 20 pine trees growing in the northern taiga subzone were studied at diferent distances from the source of aerotechnogenic pollution. Two genetic groups of trees with red- and yellowcolored anthers were investigated. Among the characteristics studied, pH of cell sap in needles is less variable; the highest is the variation of the peroxidase activity. With inceasing the aerotecnogenic impact, the variation of the peroxidase activity becomes higher. The response of pine trees with red anthers to pollution is stronger.
