The influence of carbenicillin, cefotaxime, gentamycin, streptomycin, and augmentin added to nutrition medium on the growth and development of nodal segments in shoots of different birch species at the stage of multiplication was studied. The application of gentamycin and streptomycin at concentrations of 100-300 and 500-1000 mg l-1, respectively, was shown to affect negatively the culture of birch tissues. At the shoot multiplication stage, the periodic application of cefotaxime in combination with carbenicillin at 500-750 mg l-1 was optimal. This schedule of cultivation permits to visually sustain the sterile culture of birch tissues for a long time without adverse responses of the antibiotics to the morphological parameters of microplants.
