The effect of intraspecifi c competition on biometric parameters, the content of photosynthetic pigments, glutathione, ascorbic and dehydroascorbic acids, hydrogen peroxide, and the activity of antioxidant enzymes - superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, ascorbate peroxidase, and catalase - were investigated in needles of Pinus silvestris L., P. sibirica Du Tour, Larix sibirica Ledeb, and Picea obovataLedeb during growing periods. Under the intraspecifi c competition, some features of oxidative stress were shown to detect in the needles of all the species studied. The level of the peroxidase activity can be a marker of the stress state of coniferous trees.
