The length of absorbing roots in Siberian fir and Siberian spruce trees is reduced in native forests under heavy metal pollution. The relationship between the root length and the level of technogenic loads is described by a logistic curve. It is determined by the threshold pattern of changes in soil conditions on the attainment of critical pollution levels.
